Your identity document
Have a valid, supported government-issued ID ready. Keep the entire document visible and in focus.
If someone requested your verification: the name on the request must match the name on the ID you use.
A little preparation helps you capture clear images, avoid unnecessary retries, and move through verification smoothly.
Three simple things make the experience easier from the start.
Have a valid, supported government-issued ID ready. Keep the entire document visible and in focus.
A smartphone is usually the easiest option. Make sure the camera works and clean the lens before you begin.
Face a bright, even light source. Avoid strong backlighting, deep shadows, and glare on your document.
Take your time. A clear, focused capture now can save you from repeating a step later.
Keep all four corners visible and move away from reflections, glare, or anything covering the document.
Remove anything that blocks your face unless the instructions on screen specifically tell you otherwise.
Use the live camera and complete the capture requested on screen. Follow each instruction in the order shown.
Stay with the verification session until the current step finishes. If another action is needed, follow the new instruction before leaving.
The person or business that requested verification receives the MaxVFY result—not a copy of your identity document through MaxVFY.
Once you finish the identity check, MaxVFY shows the result or tells you if another step is needed.
Return to MaxVFY to see your VERIFIED result and the date it was completed.
If you verified yourself and sharing is available, you can choose whether your verification link is available.
Follow the instructions on your MaxVFY status page. You may be asked to repeat part of the identity check.
Complete only the step requested, then return to the status page for the updated result.
Pro tip: Waiting for a MaxVFY email? Check Spam or Junk before requesting another message.
